Rc Battery Guide

Lost as how to handle your new Rc battery? Well, look no more! This guide will cover all of the basics.

To start, you need to look at the battery to determine its type. Most rc cars/trucks use a simple NICD/NIMH battery. However, your model may have a LIPO battery: one of the most dangerous, but most powerful (and fun). With LIPO (Lithium Ion) batteries, you need to check on the battery every 5 minutes or less (during charging) as you charge to make sure it does not bulge, swell, or overheat. Once your charger switches to the "finished" light (varies by model), you will need to remove it from the charger ASAP! If you leave it in for too long, it could catch on fire. If this concerns you, you can always order a LIPO bag that can protect your home if this does happen.

If your battery is a NICD/NIMH type, then you can check on it every 10 minutes or so. However, don't let these overcharge too: it will destroy the battery. However, some chargers for NICD/NIMH turn off after the battery is done charging. Check your Rc owner's guide to see if yours will. If you don't know, assume that it will not turn off. Also, make sure that your battery does not overheat while charging, as this can harm the battery and other surfaces.

Now, time for driving! Make sure that you properly attach your battery to your rc, as you don't want it falling out while you are playing with it. Also, make sure that you connect it the right way: if it is connected wrong, your ESC/In car receiver will start smoking (for real: believe us)! If you don't unplug it asap, it could destroy the Rc car and/or start a fire.

When you are done playing, make sure that you unplug your battery if you want to save its charge. Even though your Rc may be off, it will still allow for some battery power to be lost over time.

Well, that's the end of this guide! We hope that we covered everything you needed to know! Visit our other pages to see our other guides!
