What is the difference between toy rc helicopters and hobby helicopters? (more guides below)

A toy Rc helicopter only spins and goes up and down. A hobby Rc helicopter has alot more control- it can go up, down, forward, back, side to side, and spin. The more advanced rc helicopters can even be flown upside down! Make sure you locate your local hobby shops!

New Rc helicopter buyers guide

Hobby Rc helicopters come in many shapes and sizes- Read the feature explination below to find the type you are looking for.

Size- This is how big the helicopter is. If you are looking to fly your Rc helicopter indoors only, then get a small model. If you are looking to fly your Rc helicopter outside, then get a meduim size model.

Dual blades or one main blade- This is the helicopter's design. For someone just starting the Rc hobby, get the dual blade because they are easy to control.

Looks- For someone just starting, add an anti-crash kit to your helicopter. It may look funny, but it protects the blades from bad landings.

Brands- E-flight is my favorite brand, and one of the most popular. They offer outstanding starter models also!

RTF, BNF or ARTF- Get the RTF- the other ones are missing some type of electronics.

Where to buy the Rc- Your local hobby shop, or online from a trusted source as a RTF (ready to fly) package. MAKE SURE THEY CARRY SPARE PARTS FOR YOUR RC AND YOUR RC IS NEW IN THE BOX!!!!!!!

Top 2 starter models-

#1- E-flight Blade CX2 Helicopter
This model is great for flying outdoors!

#2- The E-flight MCX2
Pretty much the same as the CX2, but smaller and perfect for indoor flight.

If you are buying your first Rc helicopter, do not buy a single blade: they are very hard to fly. We only have 2 starter models posted because the other brands, although cheaper, do not offer replacement parts (and if they do they are very hard to find). Pretty much any hobby store carries these two models, making repairs (and help) a short drive away.

How to fly your Rc helicopter

Flying an rc helicopter is very hard at first, so follow these steps for your first flight:

Before you fly:

1- Check your model's instruction manual for the controls of your remote and what they do. Make sure all the trim control is in the center.

2- Look at your Helicopter's servos (they are what should be attached below the main blade). Also check to make sure there are no loose plastic pieces.

3- Locate a large, empty indoor location (like a gym or garage).

Flying:

1- Turn on your remote, and then your Rc.

2- Slowly move the throttle up. If the helicopter is slanting sideways, adjust the trim (on the remote) to make the helicopter hover. Slowly move your helicopter foward. After it stopped, fly it backwards or side to side.

Upgrades for your Helicopter

Here are the main upgrades:

Metal parts- If a part keeps breaking, replacing it with a metal part should solve the issue.

Battery Upgrade- Lipo batteries are one of the most powerful batteries out there. They are light weight and provide lots of power to your motor. They work with any Rc AS LONG AS YOU STOP RUNING THE RC WHEN THE POWER IS LOW! If you do not, you could damage the Rc's electronics. I would recomend going to your local hobby shop to choose a battery.

Motor Upgrades- More power to the blades, faster up and down movement. Go to your local hobby shop for more info.

Repairs

Here are the common issues, as well as the solutions:

P- I trimmed my Helicopter, but it is not hovering perfectly!
S- Even though it is trimmed, your helicopter may still spin slightly. Mine does this too.

P- My helicopter hovers, but it will not go foward or backwards!
S- Your servo is broken, or not connected to your blade. Refer to your owner's manual for help.
